James Clar’s Brutalist “Spike Light” Sculpture

A bold and contemporary addition to a spacious room or loft space, James Clar’s Spike Light brings a staple of landscape architecture right into the home.  Where a traditional spike light is meant to uplight trees in parks or courtyards, Clar’s Spike Light for an interior space stands a significant 1.2 meters high and is chained to the ground with an immense chrome-plated chain.  Chrome-finished and internally lit with a 6×55w compact fluorescent, the Spike Light makes a daring proclamation that best suits the interior designer that craves a hint of architectural brutalism.  The Spike Light would definitely be an amazing conversation starter for those who enjoy entertaining, but it’s probably not the ideal choice in sculptural lighting for a home with children. - Via
