This post is for the many people that have asked me to explain Tumblr.
Tumblr is producing a lot of noise on the Internet at the moment. A site that can be loosely classified as a million one-liners rhizomatically connected via “love hits” and “reblogs”. It has become an addictive past time here at DAUGOS. It is a network of sites that actively embrace the interconnectivity of the Internet. Anything you surf across can be posted . A quote, a song, an image etc etc. The best thing about Tumblr is they make it ridiculously easy. If you enjoy someone’s postings you can “follow” that user.
The blogs you “follow” go to your “dashboard” where all your favourite tumbles aggregate. If you like what you see, you can “”reblog” or “love/heart” it. By “loving/hearting” a post (clicking a small heart icon on an article in your feed), Tumblr learns what you like and suggests other tumblelogs, thereby connecting you infinitely to content that you may be interested in. A dangerous pastime indeed.
As the posts rarely offer much depth, the posts exist as mere musings relying on the user to further explore the topic through an accompanying link.
I’ve posted two loose starting points.
(exclamation mark) - confetti and the sublime, mostly confetti.
Retrolife - better living through time travel
If anyone else has come across any good tumblelogs post them in the comment section belo.
Tumblr is the Internet designed simply.
