Afternoon view of St George’s Terrace from Parliament House

This photo was taken with a camera phone, from Parliament house on the 9th of October, 2008.

The harsh, Western Australian palette of afternoon colour has almost filled in. The sea breeze is intermittently belting the coast, and that touch of salt from the water now hits your nostrils. St. George’s Terrace empties between 5pm and 7pm every day with a parade of formal and semi-formally dressed workers. The freeway below is bumper to bumper with commuters trying to get back to their nest in the suburbs, or down to the beach before the sun hits the horizon. Kings Park is full of life, with many trying to get their pulse rate up before the end of the day.

Standing in the foreground of this shot is QV1 tower by Harry Seidler. For more photos of this iconic piece of Modernist Westralian Architecture a link to a flickr set is here.
